Columbia Asia Referal Hospital, Yeshwanthpur organised a walkathon to generate awareness about the importance of exercise and its role in improving gait, balance, tremor, flexibility, grip strength and motor coordination, among Parkinson’s patients. The event was attended by Parkinson’s patients, care givers, doctors and general public at Sankey Tank on Friday morning. The walkathon was followed by a yoga session and a physiotherapy session.
To engage Parkinson’s patients and drill the importance of exercise and that it can improve gait, balance, tremor, flexibility, grip strength and motor coordination. Exercise such as treadmill training and biking have all been shown to benefit, as has tai chi and yoga (although more studies are needed). Possibly slowing disease progression. The event which was organised at Sankey Tank Entrance, 18th Cross on April 7th, 2017 from 7 am to 9.30 am was attended by Parkinson’s Patients, Care Givers, Doctors and General Public.
