As per Buoy Health’s claims, its symptom checker chatbot leverages AI to deliver personalized and more accurate diagnoses. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Boston, it currently has 23 employees including software engineers, data scientists and a machine learning researcher and has raised $9 million of funds. The company’s algorithm was developed by a team of doctors and computer scientists through the Harvard Innovation Laboratory and trained on clinical data from 18,000 medical papers to mirror the literature referenced by physicians.
Infermedica
As per Infermedica’s claims, it leverages AI and machine learning to power the symptom-checker chatbot, Symptomate. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Poland, it currently has 26 professionals listed as employees and has raised $5 million of funds.It also claims to have conducted “three million diagnostic interviews with patients” which contributed to a 400 percent increase in revenue.
Providing users with access to validated medical information on-demand, and recommending diagnoses at the first sign of illness, chatbots in the healthcare space have the potential to expand patient care continuity.
