Focus on Providing Health Care in Rural Areas

The strategies of the Government in the Health Sector are presently guided by the National Health Policy 2002. The principal objectives of NHP-2002 inter alia includes achieving an acceptable standard of good health amongst the general population of the country and ensuring a more equitable access to health services across the social and geographical expanse of the country.National-Health-Policy-rural

The Government has formulated a Draft National Health Policy, 2015, which aims at attainment of the highest possible level of good health and well-being, through a preventive and promotive health care orientation in all developmental policies, and universal access to good quality health care services without anyone having to face financial hardship as a consequence.

The Draft National Health Policy, 2015 has recognized mandatory rural postings or mandatory rotational postings as valuable strategies for retention of specialists in rural areas.
