Global Hospitals, a multi super specialty tertiary care hospital in association with Mohan Foundation, an NGO promoting organ donation and transplantation in India since 1997, launches ‘Life before Ashes’, a unique campaign to create awareness around organ donation. The Art installations of ‘Heart’, ‘Liver’, Kidneys’ and ‘Eyeballs’ are made with human ashes collected from the ghats of Varanasi.
This initiative noticeably sends out a strong message to each and every individual on how a life can be saved through donating an organ; and there wouldn’t be these pieces of art from human ashes if these organs were donated to someone in need; giving a new lease of life to that person.
Manpreet Singh Sohal, Regional CEO, Global Hospitals, said, “Being a pioneer in organ transplantations, it is our continuous endeavour to promote and create awareness around organ donation through various initiatives and campaigns. ‘Life before Ashes’ is a distinctive initiative in collaboration with Mohan Foundation, a step towards saving lives of people who otherwise lose their lives due to lack of available cadaver donors. We hope to create a difference in people’s life through this campaign and strike the chord; ensuring a raise in registrations for organ donations across the country.”
Jaya Jairam, Project Manager, Mohan Foundation, commented, “Mohan Foundation has been promoting organ donation in India since its inception; however, we feel that there is still a long way to go. We intent to take ‘Life before Ashes’ to various hospitals and public places across Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai over the next one month; to help create as much awareness as possible around organ donation. We hope to educate people through the hard-hitting messages from the art pieces of human organs installed at the hospital.”
