~ Conducted as a follow-up Health camp on Hand Hygiene for the BMC staff~
Teams at S. L Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, in association with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (G-North Ward) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) group organized a rally to spread awareness on various water and vector borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Leptospirosis & Swine flu, today. The rally was flagged off at the hospital premises that moved along Mori Road and continued to Mahim Church, concluding at S. L Raheja Hospital, by noon. During the course of the rally, the team of doctors along with an ambulance and nursing staff from SL Raheja Hospital, visited peripheral vicinities to spread awareness & educate locals on the various factors associated with these diseases. Over 150 participants pledged towards spreading awareness as well as walked for the cause. The initiative by the hospital and government body will be hosted periodically throughout the season.
Gracing the occasion and actively taking part in the rally was Dr Prajakata Amberkar, Medical Officer of Health, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (G-North Ward) and Mr Milind Vaidh, Local Corporator, Shiv Sena. Prior to the rally, the team of doctors at S. L Raheja Hospital conducted a health check-up camp and training program on hand hygiene techniques for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officers.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr Prajakata Amberkar, Medical Officer of Health, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (G-North Ward) said, “We’ve partnered with a socially responsible hospital for this initiative so that we can progressively work with the community to build awareness about this health concern. We will continue to drive this initiative for the benefit of our communities”.
Speaking about this initiative, Dr Bipin Chevale, CEO, S. L Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, said, “This is a progressive step towards building healthier communities, where we empower Mumbaikars to understand and seek aid for common ailments. Identifying basic symptoms, seeking medical treatment immediately and avoiding self-medication, is of utmost importance, we aim to sensitize our communities about this. We hope to reach a large section of the society with this initiative that we are driving with the help of BMC officials”.
